Adriano Spampanato
ADRIANO SPAMPANATO is a French-Italian pianist and vocal coach. He is assistant choir director and organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia, and was a Washington National Opera Cafritz Young Artist from 2021-2023. Eager to explore every trend, his repertoire covers music from the 16th century to present day. Adriano’s artistic openness led him to record the organ music for Sacha Wolff's movie Mercenaire (screened at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight). He had the chance to perform all over Europe, Canada, Russia, and Japan. Adriano pursued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, earning four Bachelor's degrees (piano, organ, choreographic accompanying, and musicology) and a Master’s degree with academic honors in collaborative piano. As an organist, harpsichordist, and improviser with a strong interest in baroque music, Adriano is regularly called to perform this repertoire he so loves as a soloist or continuo player. In 2019, he won the Special prize of the Art-Assembly and Tavricheskaya Chapel for the best rendition of baroque music, at M. Tariverdiev's International Organ Competition.
Adriano was awarded and has received endowments from the French Foundation (Drouet-Bourgeois piano prize) and the prestigious Zellidja scholarship from the Académie Française. He has also been granted the prestigious Fulbright scholarship. In NYC, Adriano worked as a pianist-organist at United Methodist Christ Church, Park Ave. He also had the opportunity to work as an assistant conductor at Opera North (Lebanon, NH) and recently conducted Lucio Silla and Silla with Chicago Summer Opera. Adriano continued to develop his career as a conductor during summer 2022 by joining Opera Saratoga as a conducting fellow.
