Do Your Part to Help the Choir: Promote Concerts, Volunteer & More
As our Mission Statement says, “The City Choir of Washington is a member-driven choral community.” (Click HERE to read about our Mission/Vision/Values.) That also means that every member should do their part according to their means and ability. This is sometimes as simple and “Loving” (not merely “Liking”!) AND sharing posts on social media or passing out season brochures to your friends and family. It could mean volunteering to help set up or take down our rehearsal space, donating your time and energy to serving on a committee, or planning a social event. You could help fundraise (does your company have a match program?), write grant proposals, promote our grassroots fundraising campaigns for Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2024) and Do More 24 (mid-May 2025), and donate personally.

Volunteer!
There are many volunteer opportunities within City Choir—everything from helping set up and take down at weekly rehearsals, to joining a committee or task force focused on changing concert attire, to boosting ticket sales, to helping plan special events and fundraisers, to writing articles for our patron newsletter, and so much more!
Click on the button below to fill out a volunteer survey, and please don’t hesitate to talk to Vice President Emily Tsai, Chorus Manager Emmi Olson, President David Flaxman, or Chorus President Rod Sterling to find a volunteer opportunity that’s right for you..
Fundraising Outreach
From businesses:
You can help City Choir raise needed funds by asking your favorite businesses (restaurants, banks, financial planners, your company) if they will be a TCCW sponsor. Many companies also offer matching funds for your charitable donations. Businesses can advertise in our program books (please contact Zain Shariff at zain.shariff@citychoir.org for an ad price list), or they can contribute any amount and be listed on our website and in our program books as a corporate sponsor.
You may download a Fact Sheet (updated version coming soon) to help explain who we are.
For annual fundraising:
Most years City Choir holds a raffle, auction, or both to help raise funds for the choir. The Development Committee is always on the lookout for donations of unique goods and services, such as: music or art lessons, gift certificates for restaurants or exercise classes, special tours to regional attractions, original arts and crafts, tickets to sporting or cultural events, etc.
Please contact David Flaxman (davidrflaxman@gmail.com) for more information.
Promote Concerts!
Visit the Concert Promo Toolkit for Singers for access to templates, talking points, fun facts about the concert, venue information, graphics, and much more! You’ll find an updated Toolkit for each concert at least one month before the performance.
Donate
Did you know that City Choir raises only about 1/5 of its almost $400K yearly budget through ticket sales, and the rest through the generosity of donors? We treasure every donation, and your gift will help keep City Choir singing!
