New York-based Mexican mezzo-soprano Rosario Armas was born in Tlaxcala, Mexico. Mrs. Armas furthered her education at the Escuela Nacional Autónoma de México. In 2016, she relocated to New York to pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music. She is currently pursuing her Master of Musical Arts (MMA) at the Yale School of Music.

Rosario has garnered recognition for her remarkable portrayals in opera productions. Her notable roles include Cherubino in W. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Juana in Carla Lucero's La Opera Juana, Orsini in Donizetti’s Lucrezia di Borgia, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Marthe in Gounod’s Faust, Carmen in Bizet’s La Tragédie de Carmen, and Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. Her future engagements include Marta in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta and the title role in Massenet's La Navarraise.

Rosario has received various scholarships and awards. She was honored with the prestigious Judith Raskin Scholarship and the International Advisory Board Scholarship. In recognition of her talent, she won the "Encouragement Award" at the MONC district auditions, 3rd Prize in the Joan Taub Ades Competition, the Eisenberg Fried Concerto Competition, and 2nd Prize at the Gerda Lissner Foundation Competition, Zarzuela Division. Most recently, Rosario became the winner of the Capital District for the Metropolitan Opera Competition.

She served as an Apprentice Singer at Sarasota Opera and as a Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera in 2023 and 2024. Mrs. Armas will be attending as an Apprentice artist with Des Moines Metro Opera in 2025, covering the role of Baba in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress.

In 2023, Mrs. Armas commissioned new music from composer Julian de la Chica, recording two albums released on November 1st. She is also a professional bolero and traditional Mexican mariachi singer.
