Travon D. Walker, tenor

Tenor Travon D. Walker is a second-year master’s student at Rice University, where he studies with Dr. Robin Rice. A native of Hinesville, GA, Mr. Walker completed his undergraduate studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. While there, he made his operatic debut as The Reader in Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Tibetan Book of the Dead, as well as performing the roles of Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd (canceled due to Covid-19) and Dan Leno in the virtual production of Kevin Puts’ Elizabeth Cree. At Rice University, Mr. Walker has appeared in the Opera Scenes Program, singing partial roles of Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw. Mr. Walker was a Studio Artist this past summer at Wolf Trap Opera, singing in the chorus of Der Freischütz, and performing the role of Elder Gleaton in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah. This year, he can be seen at Rice University singing the role of Sam Kaplan in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene
